Viciously likeable - if there is such a thing - veteran comedian and Chicago native Marina Franklin returns home for her first one-hour comedy special, "Single Black Female", taping at the iconic Vic Theatre on Friday, September 14, 2018.
Marina is a stand-up comedy mainstay at premier venues and festivals, including the Comedy Cellar; The Melbourne Comedy Festival; Scotland's Glasgow Comedy Festival; BBC's World Stand's Up; Rotterdam's Comedy Factory; Montreal's Just for Laughs; Ireland's Kilkenny Comedy Festival; and Nashville's Bonnaroo Music Festival.
Some of her onscreen credits include Netflix's "The Break with Michelle Wolf"; HBO's "Crashing"; Amy Schumer's hit movie, "Trainwreck"; Stephen Colbert's Late Show; Conan O'Brien; "The Jim Gaffigan Show"; Showtime's "Women Who Kill"; and Comedy Central's "Chappelle's Show". Marina's writing credits include HBO's "Divorce", and she also hosts and produces the critically acclaimed "Friends Like Us" podcast.
Marina is a University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and Syracuse University graduate. She resides in New York City and loves dancing, house music, talking shit, and working on her sweet right hook.
"While Franklin certainly isn't considered to be an "up and coming" comic since she's very well established in this field, it's evident that her best years are still in the making as she continues to rise to the top of the comedy scene. Whether she's performing on a stage near you or breaking down hot topics on her popular podcast Friends Like Us, one thing is for sure - Marina Franklin is on her way to becoming one of the Greats." - Nash Rose, stellarunderground.com
